chevy 2000 ls po410 code
need help. code 410- secondary air injection system malfunction has come up on check engine light. please assist. how do i fix it. thank you for any help.

I see by your profile you live in New York which is a green state (the air injection system is on green state cars only). The air pump is located in the left front fenderwell area, and is subjected to lots of water. They tend to get water in them, and then when the weather gets cold, the water freezes tripping this code. The new replacement proceedure suggests installing a shield to help deflect the water and alleviate this issue. You may need a new A.I.R. pump, or you may just need to thaw and empty the water out of your current one, which then may work again.

Yes it is Jim. The A.I.R pump pushes fresh air into the exhaust via some hoses and a check valve to further reduce emissions.
