Two Questions

ok I have two questions, as my title says, ok the First Question:
i have an 05 3.4 grand am and ive been losing gas mileage its gettin bad now, I used to get like 300 per tank now im barely gettin like 180, what are some possible reasones that it is declining so fast, i keep my oil changed regularly, and my tires are kept even and aired up, and my air filter is almost brand new.

and my Secong Question: does anyone know where i could get the flat spoiler for the grand am, not the one with the to rigdes in the middle, the one thats flat, i dont see them around very often but when i do i want to steal it off their car. lol and i spose since im askin that i should ask where i could get a ram air hood with the hood scoops, ?

any and all answers will be appreciated, thank you!opcorn:

Re: Two Questions

How many miles on this 05'?

Could be several things contributing to your mpg drop.

If your fuel filter was clogged.
Could be your emissions system having something not working(egr, cat covrt,O2 sensors).
Even the plugs and wires could be the problem.

If you are referring to the 03-05' GA Flat wings I think they are from the Aleros. As far as Hoods, try PFYC .
You migth be able to find one at a local stealership for about the same price, and would probly save on shipping.

Re: Two Questions

The wing you are talking about is called the Sc/t wing for the grand am. You can get it from the dealer, for a large sum of money. OR if you are lucky like i was, you can get it on ebay. I paid about 70 bucks for a silver Sc/t wing, with 20$ for shipping. after i got it i sold my old wing on ebay for 75 bucks. so i basically broe even. If you do a search for Sc/t or sct your should be able to find it. Right now there is nothing on ebay for sale.

No problem I'll keep an eye out for an sc/t wing though. Thanks for the comment about the buick. It's a photochopped, of a bucik and an olds... I was going for a modern verison of a buick grand national using a Regal front end and a alero rear. I thought it came out pretty well.

not quite... there is a slight difference. the alero is flat straight across, and is slightly curved, the sc/t ( <--- scroll down to see the pics, It's the best I have posted of my car with the sc/t wing) bends down at the ends and more straight.

Re: Two Questions

Start cheap, fuel filter, then I'd do the plugs & wires and see if that didnt help.

I'd also check under the hood and make sure thiers not any vacum lines loose/leaking,
replace PCV valve,
replace the air filter at every oil change(unless you use a washable one),
dont wait till the oil change light comes on(change around 3-4k miles).

If this is a GT you arent going to get realy good mpg anyway.
My SE gets great mileage doesnt matter if I run it hard or not.
My GT, -it sucks!
Its been getting 18-20 doesnt matter city/highway.
(i suspect trans troubles)
The SE is 25+ more HP -

Might get it scanned if all that doesnt help, to see if your O2 sensors are working properly

hope that all helps.
