thunderbird city MPG?
Just wondering what is the average city mpg on a 96 thunderbird lx non-sc. i feel like im pumpin more gas now than when i first bought the car in fall of 2006. i dont know if its gas prices or my driving habbits, or my car needs a tune up..last time i checked, i filled up on gas and got about 200 miles on before it went on "E" again? GOOD or BAD?

Re: thunderbird city MPG?
Do you have a 3.8L V6 or a 4.6L V8?
I get between 220 to 240 miles to a tank in the city with my 4.6L V8. About 12 to 15 MPG. I usually get a little less in the winter because I let the car warm-up in the mornings before driving it. Check http://www.fueleconomy.gov/ for infor on how to improve your gas mileage. They also have a printable form for recording fuel purchases & calculating your MPG. |

Re: thunderbird city MPG?
Actually your car uses more gas running the A/C then it does running the heater. the only thing the car powers to run the heater is a fan and to open a valve to allow the engine coolant to flow into the coil. The A/C requires the actual engine to run the compressor as well as a fan and a few valves. The compressor takes quite a significant amount of energy to run it.
