Engine bogging?! Need HELP!!!

Help!!! Whenever I mashed the gas pedal at a light or on the snowy roads here, the engine doesn't rev past 3000-3500 RPMS, instead it starts bogging, like a low grumble, and no power is really being put out, like enough to move the car but when you mash it the tires should spin like crazy in the snow, instead I get a bogging engine, it drives fine on dry pavment and when i hammer it on dry roads, it picks up instantly.....im worried, i dont know what it is, only when its a wet road, a snowy road and rarely on a dry road, it bogs instead of spinning.....someone please help, it worries me a lot....

Re: Engine bogging?! Need HELP!!!

traction control. does a little light come on the dash that looks like a car skidding? If it does its traction control kicking in to stop the wheels from spinning.

Traction control can retard spark, limit fuel or brake the spinning wheel.

no light comes on but i think your absolutely right because on dry pavement it drives fine and wehn i floor it, it starts to pick up speed fast, just mostly on wet surfaces it seems it does retard spark or fuel to stop you from spinning, although no light comes on, i think its traction control, because i also have my 16 inch rims with summer tires with barely any tread left on em on there, so makes sense :-P.

Re: Engine bogging?! Need HELP!!!

Depending on the car, my 2001 Sunfire has a switch to turn it off and on. Some other cars, if you use 3 or 2 gear (auto) it will shut it off. Also pulling up on the emergency brake handle a little bit will shut it off, of course, then you have to put up with the bells going off.
