Strange noise when turning wheel

My car has decided it wants to spend my money this month... the back brakes needed work two weeks ago, the alternator went last week, now this...

After rotating the steering wheel one full turn to the left, the car makes a soft creaking noise as I continue all the way to the left. It JUST started to do this. I don't know WHAT this is, or if it poses a problem, but it NEVER did this before.

No other steering noises other than this, just when I complete a full steering wheel turn to the left. It's almost like a groan/creak, coming from the driver's side.

I've heard that when the CV boot goes, it sounds like this, but I checked the CV boot and it looks fine. Any advice (inexpensive advice) would be gratefully welcomed, the noise is more of an annoyance if anything.

Again, it's a 97 2.2l, only 16,502 miles. When I got the car at 13,700, my family said I'd have problems with it because it was driven so little...

Re: Strange noise when turning wheel

yeah, ya cant change the fact its a 10 year old car, but with the info you've given, it sounds like the cv joints, or whatever they're called, has it been parked outside all this time?

Re: Strange noise when turning wheel

it also could be a wheel bearing or a strut tower bearing.

Re: Strange noise when turning wheel

This noise came after I hadn't driven the car for about 2 weeks. As I continued to drive it for the past few days, it seems to have went away, much to my relief.

To answer your other question, The car was parked outside until 10/05, when I got it. I park it in my garage. Anyway, no problems now, thanks for the help.

Re: Strange noise when turning wheel

check your power steering fluid. My car did made a sort of a whinning noise whenever i'd turn the wheel. Topped it up a bit now it's fine.
