Car not starting after sitting awhile, what should I check?

I recently sold my 96 2.2 to my step brother, he drove it fine for the first 2 days, and now it's not starting.

*He said it sounds like it wants to but it's just not.
*It's got plenty of fuel and he said it should be getting enough juice
*It's been sitting for a few months with some starts in between so I could get it inspected.
*It's just recently gotten pretty cold here aswell.

Any ideas? What are some things I should check? The car has always started up fine before this and like I said he drove it for 2 days "babying" it and it was fine. I really don't want to have to give him his money back and take this car back I'M FCKING DONE WITH IT

make sure it has fuel, spark foremost. If you are 100% sure on those, possible CPS has gone bad. If thats malfunctioning the car is just going to flood out due to not knowing when to fire properly.

Check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge.

Yes i would check the battery, ignition setup, then fuel delivery. If it was working fine for you it should be something simple and/or related to the cold. Im sure you will figure it out.
