Cold Weather Starting

MY 98 GRAND VOYAGER HATES THE COLD WEATHER! iT STARTS RIGHT UP, BUT CHUGS AND WILL STALL IF YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS. ONCE IT'S WARM THERE IS NO PROBLEM.......ANY THOUGHTS?

Idle Air Control Valve or throttle plate could be gummed up. Figure #5 shows both: http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBr...3d801a4216.jsp Don't need to remove the throttle body. Just thoroughly spray the throttle plate area and clean the valve with carb or throttle body cleaner. There's several threads on the forum that talk to it.

Other than that, pull all that crap out of your garage thats been there for years and park it in their. I should talk.

It might be the coolant temperature sensor. But, it also could be the way it's set up to run when cold. My '94 Olds Achieva has problems when starting during the recent cold snap. But everything is ok mechanically.

Clean the IAC & throttle body as shown above. Then take a look at the temperature sensor.
