steering wheel controls... can i do it?
hi there, i am considering adding the steering wheel radio controls to my '99 LT, is this possible? i think i heard somewhere that i need to replace the entire steering column, anyone know if there is any truth to this?
i know the radio is ready for it (it's the stock cd player), just want to see if there is a harness or something out there i can get to hook the stock controls up to the stock radio and if anyone has ever done this before. i am looking to use all stock parts for this project, anyone have any ideas? thanks! |

Re: steering wheel controls... can i do it?
YES , Yes you can, it is not hard at all. I will post a email address for a company that has the complete kit for the install that includes the harness, the clockspring, the controlls and the new bottom plastic for the steering wheel.
I did it to mine and I have a 98, I wanted to update the look of my interior so I went to a late model steering wheel, but if you have a earlier Blazer you will have to get a newer steering wheel , and a new air bag. They are all over Ebay. If you want to see what it looks like installed , try (Blazer SS pic's) ,And click on the link that Cailen provided. The pic's are kind of old , but you will get the idea. http://photobucket.com/albums/c391/Blazer111/ I am not at home , but as soon as I get there I will post the address. Re: steering wheel controls... can i do it?
Here is the website that has the kit. It is from JP Customs www.jpcustoms.com . Hope that this helps.
Also check out the in line factory amps, and the direct mp3 , Ipod interface that is controlled by your new steering wheel controls. This sight is the motherload of upgrades for your chevy and GM. Even front end exchanges. |
