What do all of you think about the new X-Type? I think it looks pretty cool. The styling is a good mix between the S-Type and the XJ8/XJR.

All i think is that Jaguar will run out of letters to use pretty soon
they will have Type-Y probably...
and then Type-Z... for which they will get sued by Nissan or something...
and then they will have no other cool letters left to use.

Red face

I like the X-type. I think I will like the supercharged AWD version best.
I don't know how it'll do against the 3-series, only time will tell.

I think it looks sweet, and from what i've seen on the website it has way more cool features than the 3 series...... like voice activated things, headlights turn on automatically in the dark.... stuff like that

My moms headlights turn on in the dark, so that doesn't matter. The voice-activated stuff is cool, when it works. I will have to drive both to decide. A very tough choice, but I think the X and 3 are on top of the pile.

My mom has a 99 Grand Am SE with a V6, and a solid value package. That means a kickin sterio and p225/50-16 tires, S-rated.
Unfortunely, you have to clean the inside of the tires every 3 weeks or so in the winter. If you dont, they get unbalanced and: a) warp the brake rotors
b) destroy the bearings. (must buy a whole assembly, not just the bearing)
c) grand total: $1000 Canadian.

Also, the sterio display doesn' work, the window/lock console on the passenger door pops out repeatedly, and we've replaced rusty panels twice (it was rust-proofed, so that was free. Actually, the rust-proofing may have caused the rust.)

So the X should have better quality.

LOL. I like the X-type myself. It is the first "Affordable" Shaguar and a great show of Style and Performance for it's price.

It looks cool

I think they will do well with this car because they will be offering a true entrylevel saloon like back in the day when they offered the 2.4 liter mk II.

the liter was never tested by a magazine, cuz' jaguar knew it was too slow. This new jag is good, though.

I think the X-type has a real muscular look with the sport trim...I would not get it with the standard chrome as it makes it look less like a performance car and more like a rich-old person car that other Jags look like...I think the point of this car was to appeal to a younger crowd anyway.
