2000 EX blower fan, a/c not working

Although I am reading this may be a common problem on CRVs, hopefully this will be the exception and just be the fan. My friend's EX has 80k miles, all fan speeds not working, no A/C, but button lights up. No noise that A/C compressor is running. Never had to do any work to the A/C to date. Heat trickles in but not the usual flow from the fan. All fuses OK. No idiot lights come up. Are the no a/c and no fan realted?
