Need Help Pulling Oil Pan 1982 F-150

Howdy Ya'll -

What a great forum! My wife is actually typing this because I'm under our "new" 1982 Ford XLT Super Cab Lariot 351 V8 C-6 Automatic Transmission trying to get the oil pan off. We bought it with what looks like a leaking rear main seal...

So we got blocks under the engine and now trying to get the oil pan out. Looks like the oil pan is in the way and needs to come out too??? (Remember if none of this makes sense its because Mrs. GoldenRanch is doing the post while Mr. GoldenRanch is under the truck )

So anyway - would like any advice on A. How to get the oil pan out and B. replacing the seal.

Thanks Everybody!

You probably do have to drop the oil pump into the oilpan for removal clearance, but are you sure the pan is not leaking? I had leakage and found pin-holes in the pan. I brazed these three years ago-still holding.

Re: Need Help Pulling Oil Pan 1982 F-150

Thanks for the reply and information! I did already check for that - I am sure the leak is coming from the rear main seal or the rear gasket for the oil pan...I plan on changing both...

Why don't they make the bolts on the oil pump easier to get to??!!! One of them I can't get my socket to fit around...

I sure welcome any more advice!!!
