When you need to repair something, you need parts. I was wondering, if you could include in this thread where you find parts, part numbers and diagrams for needed repairs.
I know that some professionals use system AllData. There is an option to purchase access to info but according to the descriprion, I think, they provide only selected data for non-professionals, like me, and therefore you are not able to access all the info. This is my concern, although I am considering if it is worth the purchase or not. Some online stores provide diagram and part description but it is a problem to find these links. Please advise on the following: 1. Does anyone have any experiece with AllData? 2. Could you advise on where to find part numbers and diagrams? 3. Please inlcude web links that provide part description, etc. Thanks. |

Re: Where to get part numbers and diagrams
I have the OEM Repair CD and the Mitchell CD for my Windstar that I bought off of ebay (about 10 each). I also have a 96 Chiltons and a 95-2003 Haynes. That's where I get all my diagrams.
I order the parts online my name and usually do not need a ford part number. I go totally aftermarket if I can because I will not give Ford any more $ for this vehicle. Other than that, you can call a dealership and get the part number. I have had actually good experiences with them. The other people on the forum are way more experienced than me in this area. |

Re: Where to get part numbers and diagrams
I have a subscription to Alldatadiy.
It does give a number of FORD part numbers. I have found that FORD often updates their part numbers, so the number listed in alldata often crosses to a new FORD number, and FORD often improves parts from original, which will also result in a new part number. The alldata information gives diagrams and repair instructions. They also list estimated prices for parts, as well as standard repair times, which can give you an idea of what to expect in cost for having the work done. One thing to remember, the alldata membership is ONLY for 1 vehicle......and the data only for your year. In other words, my membership is for a 1996 Ford Windstar.....so things that are different for other years will not be included. As new TSB's come out that are for my year, the information is updated to include this. Also, FORD dealerships have much more information on their computer systems. I have found the subscription to be well worth the money. I have found that NO manual seems to have enough pictures and diagrams....which is why I take pictures with my digital camera while I am working. I have had good luck ordering parts online from Millenium FORD in Seattle through their online parts department. Make sure to include your VIN with your order (they provide a place for that on their online order form) so that you are sure to get the correct part. Mid-year changes make a VIN important in making sure that you get the correct part.

On page 2 of my snap shots there are parts and numbers for 2001 Windstar upper intake and fuel system. The Dealer has this info and should be happy to share it with you,at least mine did...Sorry one is upside down but really is the same as the first one.. |

Re: Where to get part numbers and diagrams
Try Fordcds.com There are downloads for ford service manuals for many years. Burn them to a cd and there is a lot of information and in alot of cases the part # at least at the time the discs were released. They dont always have all the information and sometimes you go around in circles looking for the information but there free. Download both the specific year and also the multi year if applicable. They crossover on info but sometimes additional info is available.
