ac noise squeek

I have a 96 suburban. I have a squeek coming from the ac compressor.
It sounds like a belt squeek. I've replaced the tensioner pulley, idler pulley, and tried several belts but the noise is still there. If I spray wd-40 down in the compressor clutch area and compressor pulley area it goes away for the day but comes back. Is this maybe a bad bearing on the compressor or clutch???? Can you replace just the clutch assembly on the ac compressor or is it all one unit??? Its driving me crazy so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: ac noise squeek

Does it squeak all the time or only when the compressor clutch is engaged?

The clutch can be removed while in the truck. You need a special tool to remove the clutch and to install a new one.

Re: ac noise squeek

It will squeek whether the clutch is engaged or not engaged. Also some days it won;t squeek at all and then other times it does it all the time. It won't squeek at idle only when it is running rpm's higher than an idle. Would having the system evacuated and refilled help. Don't they put oil back in the system to help lube the compressor????

Re: ac noise squeek

There is a bearing for the pulley that can be replaced without removing the freon. This bearing is sealed so refilling the system would not help this.

Reproduce the problem and then shut the engine off and remove the belt. Spin the pulley by hand and see if the noise happens. This will tell you if the pulley bearing is the issue.

If the noise is coming from the compressor, I doubt a drain and refill will help the noise.
