does your temp gauges and your dic not work either if so there is a fuse under the back seat look through them and replace the blown one.

My 95 does that when my wife starts the car; make sure that the key pops all the way back to 'run' after holding it to 'start'. Stuff in column is wearing.

If fuse is OK then you probably have a break in the circuit board in the IP. Had the same problem and got junk yard IP for 50.00 fixed it but the new board failed in about 3 weeks. Luckly the junk yard guaranteed it for 30 days and gave me another for free which has worked fine for 6 months. Important to get a guarantee at junk yard
