hit and run

2-90So I'm completely stopped at a stop sign watching this guy come down the street of a residential about 4 blocks from an elementary school doing at least 40. When I notice he has about an inch of frost on his window and he's running his wiper blades. I think just think O crap and look to my right to see if I can turn out of his way. Can I? OF COURSE NOT. Theres a guy on a motorcycle looking at this maniac like o shit. So I think I'll pull into the driveway next to me go to throw it in reverse too late. The driver almost hits a parked car on the right of him swerves and hits me head on. To make it better his truck is raised so his front bumper lined up perfectly with my grill. He pushed me back a good distance. He gets out of the car and looks at his car (while I'm trapped in my car because the door is slammed shut) Looks at my car and just gets in his car and zooms off (all before i finally kick my door open) When I get out of the car and look at my car the entire front end is damaged. I have no lights grill is gone and my hood wont open. What makes it worse is the guy on the motorcycle says I'm going to go catch him and takes off. Called the police they said "2 white pick-ups were just reported stoled a few miles away and most likely that was one of them" but i think the bastard had to have lived somewhere around there because he still had frost on the windows. I'm searching tomorrow. O and the guy didnt have license plates, he had a sticker in the window with the number 2 in it so i'm going to have a hard time tracking him but if i do catch him

On a good note I get to look for new cars on the bad side I liked my car its my first car and i had just put a new engine in it a few months ago, my first engine swap that i did by myself.

O and insurance = liability only....

pics tomorrow dont know how to do it but i'm guessing i can use photobucket?

Re: hit and run

motorcycle guy never came back within the hour i was there. But now that i'm looking at it after a night of sleep it doesn't look that bad. I almost sold it to a junkyard yesterday for $66 but today I was like NO.

Re: hit and run

That sucks. Hit and runs are bastards. There was one in the news this week of somebody hitting a pregnant woman crossing the street with her 2 year old son. I'm pretty sure they lived, but what kind of soul-less prick do you have to be to flee the scene after hitting a pregnant woman and small child.

Don't know about hte hood. THe latch is probably bent, you may have to pry it open. If the rest of the body panels line up, you could try getting a hood and grille from a junkyard and swapping them on. But if the rest of hte panels were affected than it wont line up correctly and it may not be worth it. Sucks, but to keep it in perspective, be glad nobody got hurt.

Re: hit and run

yea not worth it the drivers side front fender is dented the drivers side door is ripped up from me having to kick my way out because it was wedged to the front fender. So I dont think its worth my time. I already turned around and got a 94 pontiac grand am. So now I just gotta fix the water pump on that and everything will be good. Its a smoother ride than my oldsmobile and I thought that was a pretty smooth ride.

I'm trying to sell the olds now new tires, engine, rebuilt tranny, perfect interior. I THINK its worth 1000 just from the engine and tranny but i have no idea on what to try and sell it for. It runs perfectly just cosmetics.
