Duramax Reliability
I am looking at buying a 2006 HD2500 with the 6.6 Duromax diesel and an Allison transmission. I drive quite a bit so I am wondering on your past experience with the reliability, maintenance costs and how many miles I should expect to get from this truck.

Re: Duramax Reliability
It's a Chevy and it's a diesel. It'll go on forever.

Re: Duramax Reliability
I have a 2001 Duramax with the Allison, but only have 72,000 miles on it and so far just little problems. Talked to a fella in the oil field supply business that has a 2002 Duramax and towed a dual axle 8 tire goose neck with oil field parts for delivery. He drove all over the south and had close to 300k on it and still liked it but had some fuel injector issues with it over time. The truck still looked good and sounded good. He said he was going to drive it until it "Laid Down" but is probably still driving it. I have heard of some of the old Dodge Cummins going 600-700k. The Allison automatic is a joy to drive. I pull a heavy trailer 16,000 lb. with a 12'6" roof (lots of wind resistence) and it will float down the hwy. at 70mph turning about 1900 rpm's in 5th gear, lots of torque.
