Subaru pt. 12: 06 USDM WRX wippit!

The Suby model pile was starting to look like it was going to topple over onto my bed again. In the midst of my dreams, they kept calling to me. *Build me already you fat lazy effer Yes...my models are in my bedroom/storage bunker. And they are plentiful-erm...more like plastic stuffed cardboard mountain ranges...

And those are just the Subies. Not counting the Team set, Tami R2, and Fuji airplane.
JAY! I see your S202, and raise you this WRX. Your call now
Fujimi LHD STI kit. Still not exactly a USDM. The body needed ever so slight modifications. This meant filling/removing the front side marker lights. And to make it a WRX, had to remove the rear fender flares also. -and reshape the rear bumper to fit the slightly narrower body. Some minor sanding still needs to be done.
When I do the RS...err..2.5i, I might need to steal the WRX wheels back.

Wheels from Fujimi WRX kit. Repainted silver.

Washboard wing from Tamiya STi.

Paint...unsure as of yet. There's the all common WRBlue..but..who hasn't seen one of those. The silvers are nice, but already destined for an STI. I like my blue. Or the Blue Ridge Pearl, but it's not an 06-07 color. But I might be going that way anyway. The red...I was hoping it to be a nice solid red. But I reckon it's pearl. The color I would have chosen for that, would be the mica red. And I don't really care for that shade.

STI Limited will be an easy fix...Satin White Pearl.

Regular STI will benefit from the much closer to scale rims from the Hotworks diecasts.

Yes..there are a bunch to work on. Many projects to start..more to finish. On to the still- sub par photography...just fantastic..I can hear you all now..'if he didn't spend so much dam money on models..he could have bought like..the best camera-better than NASA's.' Well..probably..But then I wouldn't have the models. Sorry, I'm just selfish. Tons of kits for me..crap pics for you ...blah blah..I bet most of you won't read this anyway..

On to the pics.....

Q&C thanks.

p.s.this being a progress thread, means the kit will take just about forever to finish. And will most likely be put back into the pile Or it could go the other way, and I have this done by tomorrow..We'll see

Caspita Jiotto(sp) Yes. Prototype..showcar..something. Flat 12 I always thought it had something to do with Fuji heavy, but the internets tell me otherwise.

Hey Frank. I have a 'selfish' suggestion for a colour choice - Crystal Grey Metallic. I say seflish, as Helen and I have an '06 Impreza RV down here in Aus (I believe they are called Impreza Outbacks in the US), and I am keeping my eye out for a match for 1:24th scale. Then I might get really excited and convert a Fujimi kit into the sportswagon shape! I seem to recall someone here starting such a project ...... I wonder if they finished? Besides, the Crystal Grey looks really nice on the WRX/STi sedans anyway - I think it is more 'classy' than the standard silver.

Good luck anyway,
Grant.

Close..they are called Outback Sport.
Me? I tried to chop the Tami WRX into a wagon..that got put aside And I was working on the Hase wagon to make it an OBS. That is also put aside. But Crystal grey..I know..it is beautiful. That's going on my STI tho.

Re: Subaru pt. 12: 06 USDM WRX wippit!

Yeah, it seems a lot of work to convert either a Tamiya or Fujimi sedan into the sportswagon. On my 'to do' list is, as you say, make a Hasegawa wagon into the RV/OBS. I intend to steal the mile-high suspension from a Hasegawa WRX rally kit - this way I can then put the sportswagon suspension under the rally car to have a better 'tarmac spec' ride height. We'll see. Could also do this to create a Legacy/Liberty Outback.....

Bob...was making a (secret?) 2nd generation Outback Legacy. But yea. I think what Kaho did to the lancer to make it a mirage(US) is pretty much what needs to be done to make the narrow body.

I have like 8 models to build and I feel like I'm wasting my money if I buy another. I think my wife would kill me if I had a pile like that!

Paint looks nice. Are you gonna polish it out? Any detail work left for it?
