Traveling down the road I came to a wreck where I idled for prob 10 minutes while moving a little.. normal bumper to bumper traffic. Then I notice when I am pressing the gas Im not moving and my low oil light comes on at the same time, then my '95 dies. It starts immediately back up as I continue down the road. I need help with this please. If the low oil light comes on does it automatically turn off the car for a safety so you dont blow your engine? I checked the oil when I got home and it was as full as could be. need help.
Thanks anyone |

Re: low oil level light pops on--- car turned off
the first thing you want to do is fill your engine crankcase with oil, not sure if you have the oil pressure sensor that kills the ignition.

Re: low oil level light pops on--- car turned off
It's possible that while the oil level is ok as read on the dipstick, the filter may be either clogged or collapsed internally -- this would cause either very high (partially blocked) or very low oil pressure (the filter is bypassed) that could cause the ECM to shutdown the engine -- engine oil also plays a role in cooling that may confuse the ECM.
Maybe the engine computer just "burped." |
