1980 Chevy Caprice

Hi i have just bought another caprice and need to ask a couple of things. Firstly i live in the UK so i can't seem to find any US style tail/turn lights (complete lamp units) for a 80 model. Can anyone help on this?

Second is the standard GM steel wheels for my car? Are they all the same from 1977 to 1985 as i need a set and the local junk yard has a 1977 monty carlo and a 1982 old's 98 regency. He said that they changed in 1985 so would the 98 wheels be the right ones for my car? Hope that makes sence?

This is my second caprice and i think they are a brilliant car! My last one was a rebuilt 1977 350ci small block bored to 355 with loads of power! It was about 300 bhp and pulled like a steam train! I sold it because she was origianly a new york car and the rust was getting bad! The one i just bought is a 1980 267ci but tottaly stock! Came from Florida about 8 years ago and has only done 55.000 miles. Thats now my daily car so want it to be just right.

Thanks people, any help would be great!

If you have the passenger car, it should have the 4.75" bolt circle for the wheels. The '77 Monte wheels would fit then and be pretty close to totally correct. The Olds might have the 5" bolt circle, but you can measure them up.

You need the whole rear light assembly? Check around on eBay for those, not many places make them new but you could look around on the web. The last one I needed I got in a junk yard and it ran me $50. Maybe someone has a source here, lots of guys have junk parts cars.

Re: 1980 Chevy Caprice

I did a quick look on car-part.com and found some. This site links salvage yards from across the US and Canada and you just enter the info,(year, make, model, part desired,) and hit "search". There were many listed that could work, the most expensive was around $165 on down ( didn't look for cheapest, but saw some for $65.)I'm sure if you contacted them through the info provided on the site for each salvage yard, some might be willing to ship what you need to your home.

Re: 1980 Chevy Caprice

Cheers guys, i found a complete tail panel on Ebay. $75 so i'm happy with that. As for the wheels i have found a guy that has some, but i just need to go see them to be sure they are right! Ebay seems to be real good for those hard to source parts. Well in the UK anyhow. Just need a interior dome lamp cover now.

Sure wish eBay was around 20 years ago when I was rebuilding and restoring cars at that time. Could have probably saved me a lot of time and money
