Blower Motor No Sound

Hi Guys,

This morning when I warm up my SUV I noticed that my blower motor did not make any sound at all when I moved my fan control from low to high. It was working fine last night around 8 PM. I replaced my blower motor last summer. It seems like every thing else working fine including radio and rear defog. It hope it is not a blower motor gone bad. This morning temp was
-5 and windchill -25 I did not touch any thing. Is any body out there have the same problem as I had. I need help from all of your guys. Thanks in advance.

Re: Blower Motor No Sound

FWIW - My motor mysteriously stopped working one day, but had been making a lot of vibrating noises previously. So, I went ahead and took it out only to discover that ACORNS had wedged themselves into the fan blades, completely stopping it. Gave the acorns back to the squirrels and everything is fine now!

Re: Blower Motor No Sound

Since you put a new motor in last summer there are 3 things that come to mind that can cause it.

Blown fuse
Bad resitor block
Bad alternator

I would check them in that order. Since everything else seems fine I would suspect the alternator last.

Re: Blower Motor No Sound

I just found out that I have blown fuse but when I replaced it with new one and blown again. I just installed new STARTER last Friday night. Could this cause any shorts to blew fuse? Need help guys.

Should have no effect on the blower motor fuse.

The resistor block should be right behind the glove box. If you remove the glove box or open fully you should see the resistor block mounted on the evaporator coil box directly in front of you.

If its blowing fuses I'm not too sure the resistor block is at fault, but check it anyways. More likely it would be burnt motor that is shorting out, or something got into the blower wheel and jammed it causing a high amp draw. So pull the motor out again and check it as well.

Re: Blower Motor No Sound

I had this same problem this morning when it was 0 out, as well as in the past. Try just taking out the four screws that hold the blower in and turn it. It will probably be stuck like mine and just needs a little help to spin. This is probably why you are blowing fuses.
