Oil Pan replacement

The oil pan on my 2001 Grand Prix GT is getting pretty thin due to rust on the bottom. The rest of the undercarraige is fine with little to no rust, but the oil pan is in rough shape (go figure), so it'll need to be replaced. I have repaced an oil pan on a 1989 Sunbird a number of years ago, so I'm hopefull that it will be just as easy. I know I'll need a new gasket and a torque wrench, a set of ramps will definitly be required, but is there any quirks that I should look for?

Unfortunately, you are in for a bit more work with this one. You will need to raise the engine and transmission in order to get the oil pan off so you will have to loosen and remove the motor mount bolts to raise the engine. Once you get enough clearance you shouldn't have any issues.

Thanks for the info. You are right, I had it up on the lift yesterday to get the tranny checked for that rough shifting problem, and I could see where the problem will be. I going to need a hoist and some experience to do that one myself.
