What engine for a 93 Prelude

Im pretty sure its a Prelude S, Im thinking the S stands for slow. Theres no Vtec under the hood. Bought the car cuase it was cheap and I like it.

I need to know engine would be the best to put in her?
Can someone give me a couple of options?

Engine Types and Avg Prices?

Thx

the only thing worth putting in there is the H22 which is the stock Prelude VTEC engine.

usually go for around 2500 or so. I did this swap on a 92 prelude. the car runs awesome. it's very docile. loved it. pretty much a straight forward swap, just have to do some extra wiring for the VTEC but other than that it was pretty easy.

good luck

You could also (just to be different) do an H series frankenstein swap. Take the 92-96 Prelude Si (H23) block and mate it to the H22A head. I dont know the particulars about it, but I do know that you would need to tap the block and run a stainless steel braided oil line to the head for the VTEC. You would also need the H22A VTEC ECU. I'm not sure about the reliability of this swap tho...so I would probably just do the H22A swap to be on the safe side

The stock 92-96 Prelude Si motor is the H23, not the H22. The H23 is a 2.3 liter non-vtec engine. The H22A was the 93+ Prelude VTEC motor.

ok, prelude s, i think has a f22 sohc in there. the si has the h23 and the other has the h22. so for your setup, you can't do the h23, with h22 head swap. i'm pretty sure its an f22 but don't hold me to that, i've seen prelude's with f22s. but the best motor would be h23 block, with h22 head on there. that way you'll get vtec with more displacement than h22. spoon sports is a company which makes aftermarket parts for honda cars. i didn't know they made prelude parts, i've only seen civic integ and s2000 parts made. spoon engines, are really high compression engines, with built internals, that rev like crazy. prepare to spend a good chunk of dough for one.

spoon engines are just balanced and blueprinted. only differences.

So I cant get the H22a in the 93 lude S?

Spoon doesnt make anything for preludes, poor morons.
(Spoon = Jap Stroker Kit?)

I just want my car to be able to beat a Camaro Z28.
With the H22a can I do it? and what would I need?

I was checking out Skunk2, are they a good company, and should I use their engine/suspension products?

If I cant fit the engine in couldnt I just swap the mounts also?

the H22 fits in perfectly. it's basically the same engine with .1 cc's less and with VTEC.

NO frankenstein

frankenstein (h23Block with h22 Head) Lots of torque but lots of problems H22prelude VTEC sounds much better.

your going to need more to beat a z28 than just that h22. The horse power charts are not even close, you'll need a t3 turbo kit, or if you want to be the baddest kid on the block you can go with the t3/t4. In your swamp you'll need the engine, tranny, and ecu. And most likely the engine mounts-which you should change anyways because there is such an increase in power. Spoon does make engine parts for the prelude I have mine chipped with a spoon chip
