Air bag

I forgot to ask in my last post about my air bag on the 97' mystique. How bad is it for the cover on the steering wheel for the air bag to be loose where you can move it about an inch to inch and a half up and down? I can also pull it a little and see the air bag. It has never been in an accident to my knowledge. How can I fix it cause my wife is scared that it is going to interfeer with it if she would get into an accident, alsois it possible to deploy the air bag by messing with it.
