Ferrari F40 - help needed!!!

Just about to start my first 1/24 scale ...... even though I couldn't resist buying a few kits after seeing what some of you manage to detail up.... (need a rest from my Pocher Testarossa).

Anyway I have decided to build the Tamiya F40 first (got the Monte Carlo Compezione sitting in the wings ).

I do remember reading somebodies very detailed build up and they also fixed the problem of the poor fitting engine lid. Can anyone point me in the direction of this thread/fix....I know there were a couple of fixes and I dont really want to cut and pin the chassis as detailed in one thread!!!!

Any help gratefully received

MPWR is your man!
Look up his profile and read EVERY post he made - it's an encylcopedia on modeling! Not just on F40s!

...He's also sarcastic, vain, and can't finish anything.

But by some strange coincidence, I began work on my F40 cockpit last night. Don't know when I'll be able to put together an update on it- the Lotus is getting the vast majority of my free time lately. But the F40 will absolutely be finished, and I'll keep posting as it progresses....

vagrant1958, welcome to our sandbox. We'll be looking forward to pics of your build progress. Don't worry too much about how good it is- remember, the more you share the more you can learn here.

Nice to see another f40 lover. Yes it is MpWR's thread that you are speaking of. His build points out some easy to fix flaws on the tamiya f40. However my kit does not have such poor hood fitment as his did. Make sure you cut off the disposable rods on the f40 hood for they will cause fitment trouble and make sure you rear bumper is not bent out of place as it will affect fitment also. You can also fix the window gap on the f40 that tamiya suggested painting the glass red, but it is worth your time to fix it if you have the right tools.

Good Luck

Re: Ferrari F40 - help need

Try bending the rear bumper down a little bit with some hot water, that may help, it helped me. Your rear bumper may be in a raised position, try bending it down a bit, it might give the hood more room to fit properly. If all else fails you may have to do some cutting, filling and gluing just as MPWR had to do.

Good this...just like you are doing every step with me...hot water worked...but lots of manipulation...up a bit...down a bit...down at the front, up at the back....much better thanks...not perfect, but I'm happy where it is!...

Thanks again for the help!

....now am I brave enough to fix the window bodywork window bit....we'll see
