Re: Front and Rear Speaker Color Coding and Polarity '97-'03

I apologize for bringing this back from the dead, but I'm getting ready to replace my speakers in the 98 gtp and was wondering what the colors were for the 4" speakers in the rear? thanks

I should note that the above is only applicable to the base sound system and not when you have an amplified premium sound system.

It may vary but what I have for color coding to the 4" rear speakers is:

Right rear 4":
Lt. Blue - Pos (+)
Dk. Blue - Neg (-)

Left rear 4":
Yellow - Pos (+)
Brown - Neg (-)

Re: Front and Rear Speaker Color Coding and Polarity '97-'03

I apologize for bringing this tread back to life again!

I am wondering what the color coding is for the tweeters in the doors? Do they operate separate from the front speakers? Replaced my stereo last night and could not get the tweeters working.

Thanks Chuck.

Normally, this section is for reference only. You'll get better responses if you post your questions in the open Grand Prix forums.

To answer your question, the 5-1/4" speaker has an additional lead that powers the tweeters through a built in crossover/frequency limiter so only highs go to the tweeter. If you didn't change the door speakers (only the radio), then double check your speaker polarity. If you hook one of the speakers up backward, the tweeters won't work.
