Once bought a 1960 Mercury Comet for a go to work car. 2.2 litre inline six and two speed auto trans. Boy was this car slow. Lost compression stadily, so I bought a wrecked 1969 Comet with 3.2 litre inline six and 3 speed manual trans and transplanted all the mechanical bits into the older car. Quite an improvement in performance. Now that I'm older, I could go for one of these again, this time a station wagon. Lots better choices for powerplant these days, kind of partial to something like a twin cam Toyota Supra motor with a 5 speed trans. Anybody else remember these?

I'm kinda partial to the '65 Comets. I have a Caliente (or what's left of it) that started off with a 200cid 6, which was replaced with a 302. Now I'm trying to convert it to a 390 powerd AFX. I got it all stripped down, put the big block conversion kit in and haven't done much to it lately. I may finish it one day, but other projects keep coming up. It's a cool car though.
