Need to crush my 1g bov
My 1g bov was the cause of what i thought was a boost leak somewhere after my fmic install. I went over every coupler and pipe connection several times and then still had the problem. Finally I did a pressurized smoke test and found the when the boost was increased to only 14 pounds, the bov opened and let smoke out. I am wondering if trying to crush my 1g bov myself is the way to go and exactly how to do it. I dont want to mess it up if i do do it so the more detail the better.

Re: Need to crush my 1g bov
I believe there's a write-up on tuners about it, or probably in the vfaq. It's not that hard IIRC. I've never done it, but read about it a million times.

Re: Need to crush my 1g bov
You might want to invest in an aftermarket blow off valve. IIRC even the crushed ones are only effective to 18-20psi and even then can still leak.

Re: Need to crush my 1g bov
LOL glad you found the problem... a type-RS would be perfect IMO

Re: Need to crush my 1g bov
LOL yea, i got a type rs with the fmic kit i bought but the flange was for a 1g so i just put mine back on there. I think its a knock off type rs but still has the knob to turn from hard to soft. Should i try to get that type rs on there instead of my 1g?

Re: Need to crush my 1g bov
If you have a knock-off type rs then I would stick to the 1g. Knock-off bovs suck ass

Re: Need to crush my 1g bov
Worth a shot IMO. You already have the knockoff and its an easy deal, why not see how much pressure it will hold?
