quick power wiring question
ok this may seem dumb but here it goes.
is it possable to wire in a power wire from the battery that is attached to the alternator to distrubtion block. then get a second dead end battery ( one that is not connected to the alternot) and run it to the same distrubtion block as the other one then run a lead wire from the disbrubution (sp) block to the amp. now if i did something like that would that cut the current in half so that draw from the alternator is not as great. i want to do this because off of low my car rpm is at crusing speed. ( it does not get to 2k rpm unless it is about to shift or i am going past 50 mph.) |

Re: quick power wiring question
I don't think what you are saying is possible ...... if the alternator and starting battery are connected (by a power wire) to the fuse block, then ANYTHING connected to the block is connected to the alt/battery. Adding extra batteries is just going to be a bigger load on the alternator, if you could somehow manage what you are proposing - the "dead end" battery would not be charged up by the alt and not last very long.

Re: quick power wiring question
yeah, if you connect your second battery to the first battery, through anything be it a distro block or whatever, it will then also be connected to the alt.
the only way to separate it from the alt is to wire the amp directly to the second battery which is not connected to anything else. like paul said, it would not last long at all.

Re: quick power wiring question
there are switches you can get to use just the starting battery, or both, or just starting batt when the car is off.
