My 98 Grand Prix 3800 has been a great ride. But, here lately everything seems to be happening. It has 130,000 miles and still runs great. It's just everything else is beginning to fail. ABS/trac off light is on. Has an oil drip that no one has been able to locate. The light on the radio control module (left) is out an you have to replace the entire module so I am told. I already have gone through the cd player problems (E20) but, now the radio has the display out. Everything continues to work, just the display is dark. The pass. side window decided to not roll but, has now changed it's mind and is working properly for the moment. I really like this car but maybe too much is toooooooooo much.

Re: Is it time to say "goodbye"
Well as far as the screen on the radio its just a simple light bulb behind the screen that lights it, i went to radio shack and got a simmilar replacement bulb and soddered it in on mine, i forget what the model numbers were for the radio shack bulb but i know there are several old threads discussing it, and everyone knows those stock delco radios can be real crappy, i get the E20 error code often too. my GP has 117k miles, leaks coolant slowly from somewhere and drips oil also. i had to replace a window motor as well. i think pontiacs are cursed or something
but its been overall good to me i geuss.

Re: Is it time to say "goodbye"
Mike561 is correct just remove the radio and replace the lamp.
The lamp part # is 16208443 available at the dealer. Cost approximately $8.00. Substitute bulbs are available at Radio Shack and mentioned in the tech procedure below. Click here

Re: Is it time to say "goodbye"
I was putting off fixing the ABS/Low Trac for a while until one night I just decided to stick my head under and check the sensor wires...turns out there was goop inside one of the connectors; I wiped it up with an old napkin and it's been fine ever since. Window regulator is easy, $50 at scrap yard or ebay. It does seem to be one thing after another though.
