Performance Import

Greetings,

I recently began looking for a used car. I wanted something with a V8 that performs well but my budget just won’t allow for it. I’ve been told that many turbocharged V6 imports handle really well and don’t cost an arm and a leg. But I don’t know anything about imports so I don’t really know what to look for. I don’t intend to race the thing and I very, very, very rarely have the need or inclination to go above 80mph. I basically just want something that handles and accelerates really well. It would need to be under $6,000, I wouldn’t mind something that just has good potential that I could upgrade over time. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Performance Import

V-6 Turboed cars aren't for people with small budgets...they cost alot to begin with, parts are expensive, and labor is even more expensive because of how hard they generally are to work on.

The S15 Silvia is a I4, not a V6. Plus, there is no way your going to import and legalize S15 from Japan for 8K. Think more like 35K at least.

Amen to that. So you want a car that "handles and accelerates really well" but you don't intend on racing it? It sounds to me like you just need a daily driver with some extra punch. For 6K I'd suggest looking around at older VW Golfs. Definately not race cars, but have good cargo space, and enough room to pack in a few friends. And if you ever really feel like gunning it, while not passing any evos, you'll still get decent power.

you can get a 93-97 lt1 f-body (v8) for $6k easily and in good condition. they also have good potential with just bolt-ons.

Re: Performance Import

my uncle has a nissan skyline r34 gtr twin turbo with over 800bhp and that car handles and accelerates very well indeed i know you might not want to upgrade the performance to 800bhp etc. but a nissan skyline has at least 250bhp stock and has a hell of a lot of potential and is a very cheap import.
autotrader.com, pistonheads.com and gumtree.com all sell r34's for under and over your price range. i would highly recommend any skyline

Are you fucking retarded? R34s are in no way under 8K in the US and it's definately not cheap to upgrade it to 800hp. DO SOME ACTUAL FUCKING RESEARCH!

why? because he said the truth...you cant get an r32 for 8k...and any r34 listed on autotrader for less than 20k is either very illegal, stolen or some sort of 240sx with skyline parts on it...

just because he doesnt have his license doesnt make him an idiot...do you own a sportbike? how about a 4wheeler? no to either of those questions? maybe you should buy one before making opinions of others. that is just as stupid.

he didn't say anything about how the cars drives so you can't say "how the fuck do you know, YOU DONT EVEN HAVE YOUR LICENSE?!?!?!?" all he said was that you can't buy a skyline for that much money...
