Power wire problem

Hello. I just installed a new system in a friends car. I ran into a problem. He has a side terminals battery. The metal loop on the power wire will not fit between the battery and the positive terminal. If I put it between the two the terminal will not screw into the battery, as the screw is too short. My question is does anyone sell a clip (like the kind on jumper cables) that I can crimp to the end of the power wire and clip it onto the terminal post? Or does anyone else have any suggestions? I am sorry if this doesnt make any sense, i tried my best to explain. Thanks

Re: Power wire problem

if you are gonna run large cables, you usually have to use a special battery post connector.

Is the connector the red cable that screws into the battery? or is it some sort of adapter?

Re: Power wire problem

Instead of hooking the amp straight to the battery, hook it to where the cable coming off of the battery leads...I'm not positive on what it's called...that's what I did with mine.

Doesnt the positive cable coming from the battery lead to the alternator?

Re: Power wire problem

Not straight to it, at least my 95 Camaro's doesn't...it leads to a small box that has the positive and negative bat. cables, I can take a pic if necessary...trace the cable and see where it leads

Re: Power wire problem

Go to walmart and get this gold battery terminal looking thing, it has connectors for 4 wires to go into it and a piece to connect it to side terminal batteries. I put the cars cable behind that connector and hooked the amp wire up to one of the 4 holes in it.

Its like $12

this is kind of what it looks like but it has 4 connectors on the side instead of 3. Just go back to the car audio section at wally world and they should have it. If not autozone or advanced might have it.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

that would be the main fuse box.
i would not do that as that wire is usually on the small side, like 6 or 8 guage or so. connect directly to the battery with at least 4 guage using one of those terminals.
