99 3000gt TT Conversion

I'm wanting to do the TT conversion on my 99, it's the base SOHC model and I'm not sure what motor/trans combo will work w/ it. I plan on going AWD. I'm seeing motors listed as fitting 91-93 and 94-96 will any of these work in my 99? I'm also seeing people selling the front suspension off the vr4's. Will I need to change mine for the swap? If so will the suspension have to match the year of the swap in or will any gen2 work?

Honestly if you plan on going AWD, I would get a VR4 and do a 99 conversion, thats how I would do it if I wanted somthing like that, or just get a second gen VR4 theyre nice . It just seems like so much work in just man hours to do that, you might aswell just sell yours and get what you like.

Re: 99 3000gt TT Conversion

i agree. the engine/turbo conversion if fairly straitfoward, but to make it AWD will require a lot of time, and if you dont plan on doing all the work yourself, alot of money.

Like stated above, i would buy a 94-98 VR-4 and do the 99 body conversion. Much much less work. Or, if you have the money, you could try and find a 99 VR-4.

hell, you have to buy a vr-4 anyways to do the AWD conversion. If you buy a donor vr-4, and you plan on spending the time and money anyways, you might as well just restore the vr-4.
