'97 Blazer died while driving
My blazer died for the first time ever while I was driving down the road. No hessitation, no bucking, no sputtering, just plain died. All the lights are still illuminated, but the battery light is showing also, "don't know if that means anything or not." The guy that towed me said it was the fuel pump. Although when I tried to start it the fuel pump kicks on fine and never sounds weak after doing it a few times. I would invest in a fuel pressure gauge , but don't want to spend fourty dollars on something I won't use again. Also, I have had a loud ticking noise for a while and was just wandering if this could possibly be the cause too. Thanks, any response would be wonderful!

Re: '97 Blazer died while driving
Do you have good fuel pressure and spark?
Areyou sure the tank is not empty? It could be empty while the guage reads full. Good luck. |

Re: '97 Blazer died while driving
Yeah, I put over a half tank of gas in it. Spark not sure about, don't mean to sound dumb but how do you check plugs?

One needs to know the fuel pressure at the shrader valve before it's possible to rule out a fuel related problem. Check out this Thread if you're wondering how difficult it is to replace the fuel pump. |

Re: '97 Blazer died while driving
Does your battery have a full charge? If the pump doesnt get proper voltage it cant build enough pressure which would cause the injectors to stay closed. Causing you a no start................I was just thinking on the alternator side...........Just guessin

Re: '97 Blazer died while driving
97 has the defective ignition switch - actually the cable and connector- in the column that is the #1 cause of most problems - look at the many posts.
