Then it was left with us for like a month and we moved it out of the shop and while drving behind the shop it acted like it ran out of gas.....We left it behind the shop waiting for the owner of the truck and four months later now it wont start. It has fuel at the rail good fuel pres. It has spark...New Distrubitor. First thing.
I would add 5 gallon of gas to make sure it is not out of gas.
What engine and engine code?
Fuel pressure?
You have to have full fuel pressure for injectors to squirt on a cold start.
Here is guide lines for a fuel pressure check.
I know you can not check engine running but.
Do as much as you can and post back your pressure.
Hard to start cold.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel.
Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak.
Post back fuel pressure readings.

Good fuel pump.
Make sure your fuel return line is not pinched or plugged.
Then check/replace fuel pressure regulator.
Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: 1997 Chevy Truck 1500 Wont Start Agian!

the new fuel pump could also be bad this is what most people don't before I had mines replaced three different shops detected good fuel pressure and they didn't know what was wrong with it, my truck will sometimes struggle to start and sometimes wouldn't work at all until I decided to replace the fuel pump since they have real bad reputation that got my truck running like a charm but later failed again I had it replace 3 times in less than a year good thing it had warranty.

also if you replace the distributor timing might not be right since it's computerized need to get it accurate
