Question How to Reset the Computer

Well, we have a 99 Grand Am SE with the 3.4L V6. How do we reset the computer on it, I've checked the owners manual, it doesn't say, and GM told me to talk to the dealer. I doubt they will give me a straight answer, and they are closed right now, anyway.

turn the key to the on postition, pump the gas petal three times all the way to the floor, then shut the key off, and turn it back on. that should do it. dealers dont like to tell you that because when you need to change the oil then you can turn that anoying change oil light off all by yourself.

Thank you very much. I will be able to give it a try on Friday, I'm really looking forward to (hopefully) fixing some of the problems on that car.

Re: How to Reset the Computer

unplug the positive battery cable and tlet it sit for about 10 min. and hook it back up... it resets the cpu and it is worse for the fuel economy but better for performance
