I have a 2005 Chyrsler Town & country 3.8 Disc brakes all the way around. I was just on line at some Auto stores and the assortment of replacement disc pads is really big. Just which are the best buy for your money? Do I need the best at $65.00?
Do I buy Ceramic? I was told that ceramic wear your rotors down faster. Do I buy the PFC Carbon Metalic? I know nothing about these. Or do I buy the cheap Semi Metalic or the more exspensive Semi - Metalics? All advice & opinions are welcome. Thanks Ives |

Re: Brake Pads so many to choose from...Which are best?
I have a '96 Caravan and iIuse the Bendix Titanium II semi metallic as sold by Advance auto parts. They are about $48.00 the set, have little dusting, good stopping and I have 55,00 on the current set with no issues.

Re: Brake Pads so many to choose from...Which are best?
Rotor wear is one item that I do not believe we can quantify. The rotors on my 1988 BMW 750il (yes the 4200 pound beast) went over 120,000 miles on semi-metallic pads before I had to replace them (many of the European rotors wear to the point where they cannot be turned so replacement is the only option). I currently have 110,000 miles on the front rotors of my '96 Caravan, turned them once at 55,000 miles when I put on new semi-metallic pads and yet they are still good.

Re: Brake Pads so many to choose from...Which are best?
Like the others I am very happy with semi-metallic pads. I have 196K miles on my 96 GC and have changed the pads twice and shoes once. Still has the original rotors on it. I've used organics on other cars and stopped because they wear much faster, generally every 20-40k. Haven't noticed a major difference between brands. I just make sure it's a name brand and they are semi-metallic. Ceramics may be great if you're heavy on the brakes and you have a bigger vehicle. Read here:
