Power Question

I had a Ranger with a 4.0l in it and it seemed to have more oumpf than my 04 Explorer Sport Trac 4.0l. I know the Sport Trac is heavier and probably geared different.

Just wondering if it's something I should look into, or if it's normal for these? It's new to me, and other than the couple of test drives I took, I've never really driven a Sport Trac.

Thank you,

Denis

Re: Power Question

What year was your Ranger? It could be possibly that the ride of your 2004 Sport Trac with the updated suspension is so much smoother that it just doesn't "feel" as fast.

It was a 94 Ranger, but it's not that it feels slower (except for the low cutout 100mph, ah well I've got nothing to prove anyway), it's more take off. I could of left a set of tires at a stop sign with the Ranger. With the Sport Trac it almost feels like I'm taking off in second gear. If I really come on to it at a stop sign in a strait line, I might get a very slight squeal....maybe.
