In Need of Some Advice

I'm pretty new to the world of Supras so I don't really know what's what but I've been trying to do some research. So I've found an '87 Supra turbo in nice condition from what I've seen. The problem is that it has 178k miles on it and the guy wants $1900. Do you think it's worth it to buy a Supra with that many miles on it? I'm thinking I can talk him down a bit and what I really would like to do is maybe experiement with it and get to know these cars better. Also, it's a stick. Advice please.

If the body is straight and rust free, and the motor is in good shape then it is worth it. In rough barely running condition a MK III is worth about $700-1000. A pristine car with a low milage turbo motor can go for $4000+.

Re: In Need of Some Advice

Well I just received an email from the guy and he said that "The engine had the head gasket done, the head milled, a metal head gasket installed, a rebuilt ct26 installed and all new belts, hoses, etc... done a little over a year ago." And "The oil guage is working properly when the car starts and then is dropping off to '0' after the engine warms up, and the timing is going to need to be set again." He also said he's afraid to drive it even though it starts and runs fine.
