Re: Where to start

Now I havent been here as long as others, but I now see why you guys get so upset when people ask questions that can be answered by using the search box. Anyways back to the question in hand....

How much money do you want to spend?
If you dont have a limit or dont care buy a turbo kit with exhaust all the fixin's. That would be the best horsepower for the money. DONT buy chips off of ebay. If stick buy a short shifter or if its an auto buy the shift plus thing. you can for internals (bigger injectors, port and polish, cams cam gears) and the list goes on.

Now you will get snottier answers from other people and I dont blame them for giving those answers. But just go to Google.com and search your car for parts and start clicking on websites searching your car and see what you like.

I hope I get some props for this response.

Re: Where to start

the 2.2L Eco is the only engine i recommend working on in the cavalier so i guess if thats the platform you want then im not gonna try talking you out of it. If you plan on any kind of forced induction, save and go for that now. there are plenty of kits everywhere around online, and you can even build your own kit.

If you dont wanna save for a turbo/SC, you can find plenty of websites that sell different bolt-ons but most people just start with a CAI and CAT back Exhaust.

Re: Where to start

Turbo/SC would be my pic, but it depends on your goals for the car. If you want a little extra zip, i would just get I/H/E and nitrous.

Re: Where to start

I may be mistaken here but didnt gm only start making the ecotec for cavys in 2003????Unless u dropped one into your car(if u did u should have enough knowlege to know what u want to use to bef up your car)If you didnt I highly recomend it.I have a 2000 cavy 2.2l non eco....not very good performance wise.I just bought a 2.2 eco crate n a trany.I cant wait till it comes in!!!!!!Just because that engine can handle alot more stress(bigger turbos for ex.)
than a regular 2.2.Thats if you have the money.
After that im goin w/bigger fuel inj.
-cat back
-cat converter
-turbo w/the goodies
-fuel rail
-fuel pump
-intake manifold
then i plan on doin the exterior and interior last so i can have a nice sleeper.
gl on your project

Just a little thing i want to clear up....you should put the turbo ahead of the injectors because if you plan to boost, the injectors are going to decide how much power you are going to make, not to mention, you are going to have to complete your turbo setup, put the injectors in and get tuned because w/ larger injectors, your car isn't going to run well on the stock map.

I see you're taking the steps to really go through with this...that's awesome. If you need any help at all, you can PM me or w/e...my contact info is in my profile both for MSN and AIM.

Re: Where to start

Ask yourself this... What do you want out of your car, then come back and tell us what you came up with.

Do you want to auto X with the car?

Do you want to turbo/ Supercharge it?

Run Nitrous?

Keep it N/A and go all motor?

etc. etc.....
