Need Help!
Well, i just bought an 84 CRX. I'm not sure if its a DX or HF how can i tell? also, i'm wanting to put in a B16A (gen 1) swap. now the questions i have, theres alot. ok i know i need motor mounts, axles, and shift linkage, will i need a new wiring harness? and sinse mine is carberated what about fuel injection and the V-Tech? how will n e of my stock stuff work, like my altenator, starter, and all that? or should i go with a zc? i want more power, and i know its gonna be a bitch. also is there any gauges from an acura or another crx that will fit in the 84? i would like aftermarket indeglo gauges (reverse indeglo). also whats an LSD? i hear alot about it and from what i have read its a differential? (can't spell) what exactly does this do? also how would i get aftermarket parts for the b16? alot of sites go by the car model and year not the engine code. well thanks to any one who is willing to help.

ok, i will try to answer some of your ?s. if its carbureted, it can either be hf or dx, only the si came with the fuel injected engine. as for the swap, you will need everything, new wiring harness, tranny, axles, ecu, custom mounts, lots more, as for engine parts, no parts from the sohc are interchangeable to the b16. so you will need new alternator, starter, etc. an lsd means limited slip differential, when you launch, it doesn't let your wheels spin too much, so you don't lose much traction, so you get a better launch. and it locks up both wheels, instead of one, so both wheels drive the car, instead of open differential, with only one wheel driving the car, or burning out. parts for b16, you just need parts for 99-00 civic si, or the car it came out of, whatever. i think you should just go for a zc engine, because its alot cheaper than b16, and no need for the motor mounts, b16 is not a straight bolt in, where as zc is, although zc might not pass emissions, since it is jdm. the zc will bolt up to your existing tranny, so all u need is the engine, ecu, and wiring harness, uses same mounts and everything. i am also thinking about swapping in a zc, i just bought an 85 crx carbureted, and the motor needs a rebuild with 196k on the speedo. yeah, and i haven't decided yet, but i think you should go with the zc, the b16 would be fast but its alot of work to fit it in. peace

If you have a stamped steel valve cover with two nuts with washers and groments golding it on you have the 1.5 Dx motor. If you have a black plastic valve cover with bolts around the edge holding it on then you have teh 1.3 HF.
