Unhappy disaster

Can you image worst day?
Probably not like this.

I made my Pug and take it to club meeting to show it. It was great, only
some interior part needed to be put on (antennas, bonnet clips, side
mirrors).
Everybody likes it!

I went home and put it on car roof while I open car door. It was in the
plastic transparent box. It was very raining. I take umbrella in one hand
and took box for one end in another.
Suddenly box opened and my Pug hit ground very heavily.
I didn't believe it!
Parts flied all around. Even some PE parts which was on body flied around.
Friend helped me to collect all parts on dark and wet parking place.. But when I arrived home I saw biggest disaster. Body was broken.

Can you believe this? Model 95% finished and 2 weeks before Nationals is destroyed.
:-((((

Unhappy That stinks!

I've had that to happen to me before; it made me feel like :aug2: :badass: :zx11pisse :rocket: :flamer:  Try to salvage any useable pieces and get back on the horse! Don't let a little misfortune keep a great model from being built!

Ouch! Poor little Pug! Salvage what you can and make another one.

That's very bad...
You can try patching them up? It is a pity that the interior is so nice and it is .....

Body is broken and that is what I can't fix.

Can you believe that mirror which was in the box below model isn't damaged???

But I have 01 version too. How I looked, I can use almost all interior from 99 and to do small changes for 01 version.

If I will be lucky and everything goes well, maybe I can finish 01 version for Nationals. But only 11 days left...

I just read this on RCMG and as soon as i read the part about putting the model on the roof i thought u were going to drive off with it on there. I've done that with things many times before.

I'm really sorry to hear about your misfortune but perhaps there is a lesson to be learned for us all here. Extra care should be taken when packing models for transportation to shows etc.

I'm sure you can pull off an equallt fine looking model for the Nats. Perhaps fate has it so that your new one will be that little bit more impressive for the judges???

I will try to convert it to 01 version. I can't go back to 99 version. Not anymore...

It's good to learn on mistakes, but not on so big like this one.

Thank you all for nice words!

my deepest sympathies, i recently karked up the decals on my evoV wrc. *polish polish rip* "bloody hell, could've sworn i put a clear coat on"

....it's now been relegated to the "latter special projects" shelf. i'll probably turn it into a diorama piece, lots of dirt, ripped decals and maybe a heated up corner with the imprint of a foil ball pressed into it to simulate some body damage, some cloudy x-22 on the windshielf with the wiper streaks as well. rather looking forward to it actually!

ah well, make the best of it, bonne chance!

Hi there Hrmodeler,

I know exactly what you are going through. While moving places once, I was transporting an MP4/4 in 1/20th and a Honda 500CC Rothmans NSR - it had the Rothmans decals still in it - dated more then 15 years ago. Anyway going up the stairs the box was on top of other boxes, I misstepped and the box came down - 15 stairs before it finally came to an end... destroying both models. Bodyshells broken etc. I still have the bits and parts since I wasn't unable - up till now - to throw them away...

So I'm very sorry for you, to hear you went through the same misery as I did more then 10 years ago...

So I keep my fingers crossed for your 01 model, but don't get to overexcited and rushy, since that's in general not good for modeling.

Oh do I really hate to hear about these acedents. Man do I feel for you! I really am sorry to hear about the car crashing on the ground.
I too have had a model trashed from placing near the top of a car roof, except it was a car antena that did my model in.
Best thing to do is use it for parts and start over because it will never be the same as before.

Scott

Yikes! Heartbreak city! I think we've all had these things happen, fortunately it isn't often.
