Angry video card

man i stood in line the day after thanksgiving for that black friday shit at best buy super early in the morning and gots me a shiny new laptop. btw i know next to nothing about comp's so this is pretty much a noob question so ill ask it at risk of getting flamed. anyways is it possible for me to replace the graphics card in this piece of shit or not? cuz obviously its not something laptops were meant for, but i cant play shit on my laptop... it really sucks. the only game i have gotten to run is dawn of war dark crusade, and i got fear and need for speed most wanted, and even if i run them on the minimum settings, they both act retarded and choppy and eventually freeze up. so what would this entail? btw my comp is a piece of crap vaio "vgn-110g" i guess media center edition or some shit. i hate not being able to play games that came out after 1982 . anyways thanks

Re: video card

There are laptops where you can change the video card but I can count those on one hand. No, the laptop you bought can't have the video card changed. It is part of the main board. If you wanted a laptop that can play games then you shouldn't have bought a cheap garbage laptop on black Friday. You're going to have to spend some descent money for a laptop with a good processor and video card.

Gaming laptops are expensive, and just because you bought a new one does not mean it is any good. You want to game, buy a desktop.

Re: video card

I agree gaming laptops are pricey!

I have an Alienware.... way to much money

You may be able to upgrade to more RAM
which might help.

Re: video card

dang that sucks... oh well i didnt buy it just to play games. another noob question... what would happen if i did try to change it? would it totally screw up my computer? a couple of people have told me its possible (but labor intensive since you'd have to disassemble the whole thing) but no one i know has done it, or even tried.

It is physically not possible. The graphics processor is just going to be a chip soldered to the motherboard, you can't change it.

Re: video card

you would have to have someone professionally do it, how much ram do you have for the graphics chip? right click desktop>propeties - settings> advanced >adapter, it should say memory size there, most games 128 - 256 is required, if your playing the newer games anyway, probably spendy if you want to get it changed too, dells xps laptop works but probly isnt worth it, i would say alienware is good but spendy, if your looking for a gaming laptop be prepared to spend some

Re: video card

Some laptops can changeout thier video cards and ram.
THough I dont think yours is able too....
128mb is kinda low for anything like gaming/video,
might see if you can add more RAM.

I took an older laptop apart I had,
well it wouldnt go back together

128 MB of video memory for a laptop is not that bad, but the question is if it is shared or dedicated. My guess is shared, which is not nearly as good.

His laptop is not able to change graphics processors. Period.

Adding more RAM will increase overall performance of the computer in more ways than just gaming, but would make his games more playable.
