02' Grand Caravan Shifting/RPM's

2002 Grand Caravan Sport, 3.3L, 48000miles. I was getting on the freeway today and at one shift, either the 2-3, or 3-4, im not sure which one, it did not shift until 3500 RPM's. Now i did have my foot into it a little bit but that seems quite high to me. Does anyone know if this is out of the ordinary. Normal driving it shifted fine a little over 2000 RPM's in every gear. I did a fluid and filter change about a month ago, i used the cheap Coastal transmission fluid from Autozone and now im thinkin i should have used better fluid. Any help is appreciated.

Uh oh. Change your trans fluid NOW using ATF+4 fluid and a quality filter, like Mopar of Transtar. Don't use store brand filters. Somehow I doubt the Coastal fluid is ATF+4 grade. Dexron & Mercon can cause shifting problems with this trans! You may have to drain it twice to get rid of the non ATF+4 stuff; drain the pan, put the pan back on, fill it with 4 qts ATF+4, run it for a while, drain the pan again, then pan back on & fill it with more ATF+4.

Walmart has ATF+4 fluid made under license for like $ 3.80 a quart. Still cheaper than an overhaul.
