how do i know the difference between a h22a and h22a type s

ok, i've got a honda prelude h22a motor that some people say its a type s. i want to know if anyone can tell me how am i going to know which motor it is. what does it say on the motor that tells me which motor it is. thanks.

Is the valve cover red? Unless it has been swapped out, that is the easiest way. Other than pulling the cams/pistons out and checking them.

Aren't the blocks where the drive shaft connect different? I know the Type S had ATTS, like our usdm SH models.

Edit: by searching google, I found this: http://www.jdmuniverse.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=58411 So look at the oil filter, whether it points up at an angle or whether it sticks straight out.

I thought it depended on the year for the ATTS.

That could very well be, I'm not too sure on it so I just through that out there. Looks like I'll be doing some more research

From what I have found it seems that there is yet another H22a out there than no one talks about. It's the SiR S-Spec. It's the same as the Type S only it doesn't have the ATTS, and has LSD instead.
