the key cylinder on my 93yj had been getting harder and harder to turn, so I just got rid of it.
I unhooked the wires from the stock ignition switch(locaded on top of the steering colum, under the dash), and wired them up to a couple togel switches, and put in a push button to activate the starter.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245174 , at the bottom of the page. I still need to pull the steering wheel to remove the key cylinder, to eliminate the steering wheel lock feature, which will eliminate the need for a key all together.
