Problem with my 92 Taurus GL
I don't want to make a long story with my problem but I was driving on the freeway and while doing so my vehicle jolted on me. It felt like I ran over a dead body (not like I have ever before, but I'd imagine its similar to hitting a deer which I haven't done either).Anyways, I took the first exit and stopped at the light as soon as the light turned green I pressed the gas and all I would hear is the acceleration but no movement. Would anybody know what could possibly cause a ford taurus to do that? I really appreciate the time you put into reading this thread if you have any feedbacks thats even more appreciated. Much gratitude and God Bless!!!

Re: Problem with my 92 Taurus GL
check your transmission fluid levels, and check the color of the fluid, if it is a red color than it is still good, but if it is black, most likey your tranny is shot, another thing it could be is if the gearbox is shot. the only one that to my knoledge you can check easily is the transmission through the fluid, other than that, i would say bring it to a good mechanic.

Re: Problem with my 92 Taurus GL
You could pull the hose off the transmission cooler (right front near radiator) and see if the pump is pumping when the car is running.. Get a pan or something to catch it if it is..
The transmission pump may be blown.. at least if you see no pumping fluid you know your hosed....... Good Luck.
