1988 crx

Hello all I am new to the Forum and I have a question for you. I Just got installing a system for my Kid who ios 17 and I bought this car so that we could have some bonding time and to get him away from the PC. I took out all the plastic in the rear about 100 pounds it seems like and not I would like to replace it with something liter so he can thump and race. I dont have any Ideas. I put 2 punch 12" woofers with a amp I would like to bulid a amp rack and need ideas on how to cover all the metel without adding alot of weight. If someone could just give ma a dirrection on where to ook I would be very happy. And another question. I have done several insallations on sound sytems but my son thinks that I should face the box with the woofers facing front they would hit harder. right now I have them facing back. Soory for all the questions. Jason

Oh its a 1988 honda crx DX

Re: 1988 crx

Putting the OEM rear back in would be my vote on covering it all up. the weight is far from 100lbs.

Also, the subs facing rear will provide a "louder" setup, then facing forward.

Re: 1988 crx

The interior panels don't weigh 100 lbs. If you want to replace them with something lighter, you might try fiberglass. As for the directions of the subs, if they back seat is in and up, face the subs at the back glass, if the seats are out or laying down, face them towards the front of the car.

Doesn't that depend on what type of box they are in? If it's a bandpass box, I THINK it's better facing forward. I'm not sure though, as i'm a RACE ONLY type guy and don't install sound systems.

Re: 1988 crx

you should try dynomating the trunk tokeep the sound in and keep everything from rattling. Ooh and face the speakers back they produce more bass............

Re: 1988 crx

Well the draw back on facing the speakers forward is the back seat, it will soak up some sound. If he faces it toward the back of the car, it will bounce off the glass and towards the front, bypassing the backseat. If the seat isn't there, then forward would be better because of no unnecessary travel. Its really only a slight difference between the seat being there and the subs facing backwards, and the seat not being there and subs forward.

Re: 1988 crx

Hmmm, when was the last time you saw a back seat in a aCRX?

Dynomat will weigh a lot more than the stock interior.

Re: 1988 crx

yeah just keep ur interior pieces in..even after i gutted my std and took the rebars out the bumper it might of been about 80pds..neways bam is right with the bandpass..if there is about 2inches for that sub to breath it will be the best place for it..otherwise anyother box i would have facing the back..its more of a enclosed area

sealed or ported box, and face the subs straight up (mount them in the wheel well, or face them towards the back.

Re: 1988 crx

Kris you know I deal with hatches more than anything. I know the things on the crx thats the same as the hatch, but thats it. I thought some come with a backseat.

how is this going to solve the weight issue? it just moves weight from the front to the back.

here what you need to remove battery weight.

look at the two batteries

that takes care of the battery weight.

Re: 1988 crx

moving batt to the back is mostly done for more of a balance of weight.

I saw one a few months ago in a jdm EF9. <- I'm just being a smartass, though it is true. But obviously this isn't a jdm car that is being discussed in this thread.
