BRAKE and BRAKE LAMP lights up

i did a search for this but found nothing helpful.

when i start my car the BRAKE light (e-brake) stays on. when u pull the e-brake up the light gets brighter, when u put the e-brake down the light stays on but not as bright. this light never goes away until the keys are out of the ignition.

also when i drive the BRAKE LAMP light remains off like normal, however, the second i step on the brake, the light pops on. when i turn the car off and back on, the light stays off until i hit the pedal again.

all of my brake lights work great and the brake fluid is topped off. any suggestions? thanks.

Re: BRAKE and BRAKE LAMP lights up

remove your brake fluid reservoir cap and clean the float area really good. sometimes buildup can cause the float to stick and cause the light... this may not fix it but its the first step

my brake(e-brake)light comes on sometimes, but usually goes away as soon as I put brake fluid in. You may have some air in the brake lines. Your pads may be bad. Your rotors may be warped. It could be a few things.

Could be that your brake pads are thin and they're using up more brake fluid to push out the piston. If u can more info would help.

Re: BRAKE and BRAKE LAMP lights up

The computer senses the current of the brake lights when you press the brake peddle. If it isn't the correct amount it will give a light. A brake light may be out, including the third light, or the wrong size bulb is installed in one of the lights. You have to have the exact bulb. Mine did this when the third light bulb went out, and I put a 1 watt different bulb in its place.
