Yo, what's up?
My brother wants to trade his stock 91 Civic hatch DX for my stock 98 Civic coupe. With him taking over my payments, and me taking his car as is... Do yall think that would be a good trade? Would free me of a $300 car payment and free him of a car he REALLY doesn't like (I can't imagine why though... I love it). What do ya think?

Depends on a couple of factors
How much did your 98 cost you when you bought it? How much have you already paid off? What condition is the DX hatch in? How much is the estimated value of the DX hatch?

ditch the 98, they suck anyway
seriously though take that $300 a month you were payin' for the POS 98, and you could make a killer 4th gen.

Have only paid about $2k on the 98... still owe about $8k
The body and interior on the 91 is in great condition, but my bro doesn't know jack sh*t about engines (doesn't even know how to check his oil) so he's kinda let that part of the car go... and the suspention and breaks are in great condition.... All I would be concerned about would be the engine and how long it would be before I could get a differen't one in there (cause my brother's got it to the point of breaking down on a regular basis)... it runs for now, but how long could I keep it going is the question! And then his car doesn't have a/c at all, so I'd have to figure out how much it'd cost me to put that in (or rather, have it put in) cause I live in Texas, and it gets kinda hot here in the summers.

Aight so 8k with 2k to go, I say you do it. You can drop a SOHC ZC into it to keep you going for now, or depending on your finincail situation, put in a d16y8. (I am suggesting engines that dont get too costly and allow you to use d-series stuff you already have)

I would say get the hatch also, save you some money. You live in a big town or mainly drive highway? If you live in a big town, I could see fixing the A/C, but if its highway, its usually not that bad. I live in Oklahoma, and the past year or so, its been getting pretty hot up here. The only times I wish I had the A/C would be in the city, other than that, I'm happy without it.

As far as A/C is concerned, I really almost never us it in my 98 anyways sept when I have girlys with me or friends that whine and complain about the heat... so I'm good on that for a while... hell, winter's coming and the heater does work, so I'll be ok for at least 6 more months. Thinking about going with the D16Z6 or Y8 considering how much power them babies put out pulling along in even my current 98 which weighs a good 1,000lbs more then the 91... but if I can find some place to do a b-series swap for cheap enough, I'd go that route. Those of you from Texas know Jotech does nice work, but they ain't cheap! Makes me wish I had a garage, cause I'd probably do the swap myself had I an area to work! But incase you haven't caught on by now, I believe I am going to trade off with my bro.
