Re: whistling out the exhaust

It's actually probably your intake...even the stock intakes whistle quite a bit. My friends always laugh when they ride in my car because it whistles so loud....i just explain to them that my car thinks/wishes it was boosted.

Re: whistling out the exhaust

Are you sure the sound comming from your exhaust is a whistle and not a rasp? And how high are you reving your engine (bad for the car just so you know)? If you are getting around 5K or so in neutral then i bet its just your engine making a raspy noise.

Re: whistling out the exhaust

I got the same sound after my shop installed my new j-pipe. They looked at it again and they said it's not an isue. To other DSM'er in my area said not to worry about it.

on my 99 its coming fron the connection between the header and the j-pipe (under the heat shield)

It sounds great :-p

If a j-pipe on a turbo DSM is whistling then that is not normal. That would be a boost leak and that is actually hurting your performance. You might wanna get that fixed very soon...
